Who We Are

Doug Whitaker has run the counter at D.W. Whitaker Meats since 1991. The team grinds beef daily, hand-cuts every steak at the counter, and smokes our own Polish sausage and bacon. Every supplier — Creekstone, Heffelfinger, Gerber, Daisyfield — is an Ohio producer we visit and trust.

Our History

Hand-cut meats since 1991

Our story starts in 1991 when Doug Whitaker took over three connected stands in the east wing of Cleveland’s West Side Market — E-8, E-9, E-10. Three generations of butchers later, we still cut everything fresh at the counter the way Doug’s father taught him.

They started a small food let that offered takeaways only. Over three decades, Cleveland has shown up: lines down the aisle on Saturday mornings, families who order the same spiral ham every Easter, customers who know our team by name. 

Today, we work with the same Ohio producers our regulars know by name and our line on Saturday mornings tells us we’re still doing it right.
